From the hills of Northern Thailand to the waters of Madeira Park, Gina Kusuma Thongbai has brought the vibrant culture of her homeland to the Sunshine Coast. Since opening Siam99 in August 2017, her passion for people, clothing, and healing touch have built a thriving business. Most of her products originate from Thailand – the bathing suits are from Bangkok, the hand-crafted wood pieces from the teak forests of Chiang Mai and Lampang, each with a unique design story. Gina also partners with a tailor in Northern Thailand to create custom clothing inspired by the region’s stunning fabrics.
Along with the retail store, Gina practices the art of Thai massage, a tradition passed down from her grandparents and mastered at the famous Wat Po Temple, where she learned the art from the monks. She is passionate about helping and healing people through massage, and it shows in her connection to those who come into the store. Siam99 also sells Thai coffee from the Hill tribes in Chaing Mai, allowing Gina to promote and give back to her home country. She carries locally made jewelry and a line of natural skin and body care products. Psychic readings are also offered. As they say in Thailand, “khop khun ka,” “thank you,” Gina, for sharing your piece of Thailand with us.
Siam99 is at the Harbour Spirit Centre in Madeira Park, 12808 Madeira Park Road. For inquires, please call 604.883.8103
